Summaries AIR Alaska SIP/2008 Lead NAAQS Infrastructure Requirements AIR Final rule of the EPA approves revisions to the Alaska SIP regarding infrastructure requirements for the 2008 lead NAAQS. The rule does not address infrastructure elements related to nonattainment new source review, nonattainment planning requirements, or certain interstate transport requirements previously approved in an Aug. 4, 2014, final rule (79 FR 45103). The agency extended the deadline in a June 28, 2017, notice (82 FR 29246) to allow additional time to evaluate issues related to the standards. The EPA now intends to reassess whether there are areas with underlying technical issues, whether there are state designation recommendations that the agency intends to modify, and whether for any area there is insufficient information to make a designation. The EPA administrator may still determine that an extension of time to complete designations is necessary, but the original statutory deadline of Oct. 1, 2017, to make area designations is now applicable.
