Please keep me in the loop as I'm interested in how this progresses. And, if I can help along the way, as well.
Thanks, Patrick! On Wed, Apr 11, 2018 at 1:32 PM, Davis, Patrick <davis.patrick@epa.gov> wrote:

Many of those members were together in February during the Governor's Hospitality & Tourism conference. You've just missed a few of the annual meetings - Outfitters and Guides met last weekend in Casper, Dude Ranchers met in January. This is a difficult time of year as everyone is gearing up for the summer. Between now and fall is when this industry makes its living. Off season is the best time to reach out.

Thank you for your email. Good questions. We are thinking alike. The tourism/outdoor recreation industry representative associations would be the place to begin. Do these associations meet regularly? This gathering could be an opportunity to visit with them all at one time.
I have been in contact with the Wyoming Mining Association for the mining sector. The WY Petroleum Association participated in the February gathering in Denver. This event would be similar to the event held in Gillette before Easter but without a specific focus on one topic. We would expect to hear about a broad range of topics when visiting with the tourism/outdoor recreation industry.
Thanks,

Thanks for the information and for including tourism as a special sector. Because we are not a regulatory or enforcement agency, I'm wondering if the best engagement from outdoor recreation and tourism would be industry associations? Wyoming Lodging Association, Wyoming Dude Ranchers Association, Wyoming Campground Association, Wyoming Outfitters & Guides Associations? There may be a handful of retail merchants who would be good as well.
If I'm correct, the regulatory process is about the effect industry development has on an overall industry but best voiced by the individual businesses that make up that industry, right? For Oil & Gas, or Mining are you engaging with the Petroleum Association and Mining Association?
If this is to increase an understanding between governmental agencies, then we can determine who might be appropriate on our team to attend. Otherwise, I will guide you to industry leaders.
Is this similar to the event held in Gillette right before Easter?
Thanks!
Diane

EPA Region 8 will host a series of forums to interact and dialogue with industry reps and stakeholder groups representing key sectors of the economy in the states of CO, MT, ND, SD, UT, and WY. These forums will resemble the oil and gas round table held in Denver in February (https://www.ogi.eom/articles/2018/03/epaholds-2-davs-of-dlscussioD.s--in-denver-about-oiEand-gas-issi.ies.html). Forum goals include fostering a better understanding among EPA personnel of industry business models and best practices in environmental protection, and providing an opportunity for industry participants to learn about EPA's regulatory processes. Region 8 Smart Sectors is partnering with trade associations and industries that represent the engine of the Region's economy and provide significant opportunities for environmental impact. Additional sectors may be added over time.

May I please ask three things from you: 1. Name of the staff in your office with whom we should coordinate your organization's participation in these events. 2. A time in the coming months when your industry is gathered and could engage in a dialogue with the EPA. 3. Your suggestions for participants at these events It would be great to see you again!
