The attached outlines our program of gathering data on vinyl chloride. We estimate we will need two more days of monitoring in Building 105 when QYNA and QSAH resins are being processed. (QYNA is due this week, QSAH possibly week of May 13.) To facilitate the sample collection required while monitoring personnel with charcoal tubes, we will need samples of QYNA and QSAH preblends and samples of edge trim made from these preblends taken by the Calendering Supervisors. We will also require Building 101 Resin Operators to take samples from van boxes of QYNA and QSAH. I will coordinate the sampling with the Supervisors involved and forward them to Bob Arnold at Texas City.
Data so far indicates the highest exposure to personnel at their normal work stations is 7 ppm occurring on the blender floor. Reactivation of the blender ventilation system should reduce this in addition to dust levels. Complete data will be issued shortly in the overall Department 070 TLV Survey Report.
