Shell Oil Company Shell Chemical Company Interoffice Memorandum MARCH 4, 1983 k.L. Phutuu L>m FROM: TO: SENIOR INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST PROCESS MANAGER - AROMATICS WEST ^3 SUBJECT: MSDS INDEXES In order to develop a complete chemical inventory listing and maintain a current MSDS in each area, it is time to update the MSDS Indexes. Policy and Procedure Order AD-14 requires this to be done annually. Each area should have a MSDS for each purchased material, finished product(s) and the major intermediates. Attached is a listing of the chemical substances which have previously been identified in your area. This listing reflects the MSDS Index for your department and other substances listed in the Job Exposure Profile (JEP) System. Where available, the MSDS Number has been provided. Please review the attached listing updating or deleting as appropriate. Also for each substance, please qualify it as being principally either a process additive, catalyst, primary chemical steam, etc. An example has been provided for your information (Attachment 2). Chemicals such as major intermediates which require a new MSDS will be identified to Corporate Product Safety Compliance by the DPMC Industrial Hygiene Group. Where MSDS are required, information such as that listed by Attachment 3 should be supplied when available. As new purchased materials are introduced, the Purchasing Department should be requested to obtain a MSDS from the supplier. MSDS' on materials currently in use at DPMC may be obtained by contacting Patsy Hernandez on Extension 7099. t If you have any questions, please contact me at Extension 7374. The completed lists should be forwarded to Industrial Hygiene. P. J. Snyder Attachments cc: ECB File PJS Chron R. Hartman H. L. Lee LAM 013910 DPMC-15177 DPMC r"MlCAL INVENTORY AI\'D MATERIAL S...
