Dear Colleagues;
We are pleased to invite you to a workshop discussion on The Outlook for Oil and Gas Production in the Permian and SCOOP/STACK Shale Plays. This event will be on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 9:30am - 1:30pm at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (1616 Rhode Island Ave. NW, Washington, D.C.). The workshop is designed to explore in detail various perspectives on both the resource potential and possible production profile outlooks for the Permian and SCOOP/STACK plays. In addition, we will also address some of the challenges (e.g., water availability, work crews takeaway capacity, storage, the role of associated gas) and the role that government could play in the outlook for production.
We expect to make some of the formal presentations public following the session, but the roundtable discussion will not be webcast and will be held under Chatham House Rule, so space will be limited for registrants. Please RSVP to enerqv@csis.org by Tuesday, November 28.

While the resiliency of U.S. onshore oil and gas production has continued to surprise many in 2017, drilling operations are increasingly becoming concentrated across several major shale plays. The Permian in South-West Texas and the South Central Oklahoma Oil Province (SCOOP) along with the Sooner Trend, Anadarko, and Canadian and Kingfisher (STACK) in the Anadarko Basin in Oklahoma are displaying some of the most promising signs of growth. The keys to understanding the potential of these plays are the various resource estimates, production profiles outlooks, and challenges facing operators. Potential constraints include water management issues, takeaway capacity challenges, the availability of liquids treatment facilities, and the role that local, state, and federal government agencies will play towards realizing the prudent development of these resources.
If you have any questions about the workshop, please feel free to reach out to Andrew Stanley (astanlev@csis.org). Research Associate with the Energy & National Security Program. We hope to see you soon.
Sincerely,
Frank A. Verrastro
