Where does energy stand post election?
Dear Mandy: It may not have received as much attention as marquee Senate and House races, but energy was very much on the ballot in the 2018 midterms. More than 10 states had energy related initiatives, propositions and constitutional amendments on the 2018 ballot. These measures included renewable energy standards, a carbon tax and a fracking set back provision. Even in places that are considered strongholds for environmental activists, a trend emerged-- voters understand the progress that the private sector is making to produce cleaner, more reliable, and increasing renewable energy sources. They would rather see private investment in innovation than government mandates and taxes that raise their costs. Check out our Election Scorecard on the key energy ballot measures.
So what is next for energy and the environment now that the 2018 Elections are over? We've got your answer. Listen in as GEI's Dan Byers joins a Sidley Austin post-election webinar on Thursday, November 15th to discuss the Trump Administration's deregulatory agenda and the outlook for the next two years of environmental legislation, regulation and enforcement.
