July 16, 2019 Greater Advocacy We had record breaking attendance at this year's DEPA DC Fly-In! Your participation makes DEPA's advocacy efforts that much stronger when we visit with congressional leaders, policymakers and regulators about the importance of the domestic oil and natural gas industry. This collaboration is our group's greatest strength. Outstanding Sponsors The success of this year's Fly-In is a testament to the overwhelming support of our sponsors. Thank you to our sponsors: Panther Energy Company III, LLC Continental Resources Inc. Calfrac Well Services Ltd. Iron Hawk Energy B-29 Investments EST Inc. Longleaf Energy Group Inc. More Than Just Meetings This year's increased attendance brought together a great group of people! We had affiliates from oil and gas associations throughout the United States in attendance who came together in support of America's energy dominance. We are very appreciative of our collaboration with the Council for a Secure America (CSA) during this event. PO BOX 53038 OKLAHOMA CITY, OK 73152 405.669.6646 WWW.DEPAUSA.ORG #1364962.1 Sierra Club FOIA - DOIOS-2024-000670 SC_EVERSPLIT0004900 CSA is an organization dedicated to promoting U.S. energy independence, its impact on U.S. foreign policy, and the strategic relationship between the U.S. and Israel. The CSA is the first organization of its kind to bolster the alliance between the American oil and gas industry and the pro-Israel community. The CSA educates and engages both constituencies through educational briefings, and leading delegations to the oil patch and Israel. Together, DEPA and CSA educate the public about the importance of decreasing U.S. reliance on imported oil from the Middle East. Bipartisan Advocacy Our Fly-In attendees learned from a wonderful lineup of keynote speakers. We believe the only way to accomplish our sharply focused agenda is to establish common ground. Below is a list of speakers we were honored to hear from. They truly represent the best interests of our industry. Senator Steve Daines (R-Montana) J.C. Watts, Former Congressman Representative Henry Cuellar (D-Texas 28th District) Mandy Gunasekara, Founder & President of Energy 45 Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-Louisiana) Jerry Simmons, Executive Director of DEPA Dan Haley, President & CEO of COGA House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-California 23rd District) Administrator of the EPA Andrew Wheeler Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Office of Air & Radiation, Anne Idsal Jason Isaac, Senior Manager & Distinguished Fellow of Life: Powered Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana 1st District) Senator Thom Tillis (R-North Carolina) Senator Mike Braun (R-Indiana) Regulatory Report During our June, DEPA DC Fly-in, we enjoyed audiences with the key regulators that have an influence on our industry. On Wednesday afternoon, we heard from the EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler, the EPA Acting Assistant Administrator of the Office of Air and Radiation (OAR), Anne Idsal and Secretary David Bernhardt of Interior. Administrator Wheeler took us through a long list of EPA programs and policies that have been implemented under the Trump Administration that have enabled them to accomplish the true mission of the EPA, which is to protect human health and the environment. Moreover, through his leadership, the Administrator has demonstrated his commitment to this mission through the promotion of an agenda based on true science rather than political will. Assistant Secretary Idsal, who only recently came into this position from her assignment as EPA Region 6 PO BOX 53038 OKLAHOMA CITY, OK 73152 405.669.6646 WWW.DEPAUSA.ORG #1364962.2 Sierra Club FOIA - DOIOS-2024-000670 SC_EVERSPLIT0004901 Administrator, expressed her support for this same mission and committed to promoting rules and policies that effect tangible, common sense outcomes. Secretary Bernhardt laid out his agenda for the Department of the Interior with the same commitment to the American people, and their lands and resources that he now oversees. DEPA worked with the Secretary on oil and gas issues when he was Deputy, and he has proven effective in devising solutions to the problems at hand without sacrificing the integrity of the rules and laws he is charged to uphold. He spoke with the characteristic voice of wisdom and reason when describing his plans for using the revenues generated by the resources of the U.S.A. to improve the National Parks, monuments and other public assets for the benefit of the American people. These three leaders have been receptive to our meetings and have taken our concerns seriously. As I have mentioned many times before, DEPA needs to engage with these agencies while we have the listening ear of an administration that is not intent on "keeping it in the ground" and stopping the production of a resource that represents freedom to the American People. Doing What We Can While our annual DC Fly-In was a success by all accounts, we must continue to stay focused on behalf of our families and this country. Like Theodore Roosevelt once said, "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are..." DEPA and this industry continue to do just that! Since day one, our industry has done this on behalf of thousands of families across the country who work directly for the industry. Now, we are exporting with American resources that we're safely modulating. In doing this we are creating new jobs and creating a safe world our allies can admire. The people of our wonderful country have provided us with the best space age technology and a highly regulated environment. We are currently at a crossroads in this country and we need to continue to support and tell our story - to not be afraid to stand up for ourselves and our industry. This is why it is so important for us to stay politically involved. We have work to do, and we know that by harnessing our collective resources, we will succeed. Mark your calendar for DEPA's Fall Retreat October 10th-12th in Houston, TX. Details to follow. Thanks so much PO BOX 53038 OKLAHOMA CITY, OK 73152 405.669.6646 WWW.DEPAUSA.ORG #1364962.3 Sierra Club FOIA - DOIOS-2024-000670 SC_EVERSPLIT0004902
