Jackson, Ryan[jackson.ryan@epa.gov] Doug Ericksen Sun 8/20/2017 5:13:07 PM Invitation to Speak in Washington State
Jackson, it is my understanding that the Washington Policy Center has reached out to Administrator Pruitt to speak at their Fall Dinner on September 27th in Spokane, Washington.
The WPC is a business oriented think tank that has a long history of bringing in A list speakers for their events. Scott Walker, Dr. Ben Carson and Jeb Bush all spoke at this event prior to their Presidential runs.
If Admin. Pruitt would consider coming to speak in Spokane, as the Chairman of the Senate Energy, Environment and Telecommunications Committee I would be happy to put together a very brief or an extended tour of key EPA issues in the region such as Water Quality and Fish Consumption rules, the Spokane River clean up project, Superfund sties in Idaho, or a the Hanford Clean Up (the largest Superfund Site in America). Each of these visits could include sit downs with key business leaders in the area. Media coverage for a visit of this magnitude would be extensive.
I hope that all is going well at the EPA.
Please see copy of WPC correspondence with EPA on this topic.
Please let me know if there is any interest in this visit.

Subject: Invitation for Administrator Pruitt to keynote WPC Annual Dinner
Hello Millan,
Washington Policy Center (WPC), a non-partisan, state-based think tank in Washington state would like to invite Administrator Pruitt to be the keynote speaker at our upcoming Annual Dinner in Spokane on September 27, 2017. As you may recall, we have been working to find an event in Washington state for Administrator Pruitt to participate in and we think our Annual Dinner with over 1,000 attendees would be of interest to him. We will also honor him with our Columbia Award at the event for his role and leadership in enacting sound environmental policy at the state and national level.

Dear Administrator Pruitt:
Washington Policy Center - one of the nation's leading independent, non-profit think tanks based in Washington state - would like to honor you with our 2017 Columbia Award at our Annual Dinner event this fall.
The award is our organization's highest honor - and we cordially invite you to accept it and be the keynote speaker at our gala dinner event to be held in Spokane, Washington on September 27, 2017. We anticipate more than 1,000 will be in attendance at this gala dinner - one of the largest of its kind anywhere in the country including lawmakers, business and community leaders, young professionals, and concerned citizens from across our state.
The Columbia Award is WPC's highest recognition in support of free-market principles and our mission to improve lives through free-market solutions. It is awarded to a national figure that exemplifies what the Columbia River embodies; a mighty river that spans Eastern and Western Washington, symbolizing both natural resources and resourcefulness of the human spirit. We would like to honor you with this award for your leadership to enact sound environmental policy at the state and national level.
Washington Policy Center will be honored to host you and cover all first-class travel costs for you and a staff member or guest.
Year-in and year-out, WPC's Annual Dinner events are a must-stop for the nation's top policy leaders. Last year's Eastern Washington Annual Dinner featured Defense

Secretary Gen. James Mattis and Dr. Charles Krauthammer. Past recipients of the Columbia Award include Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and former Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels.
Washington Policy Center is a non-profit, non-partisan think tank similar to the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, the Heritage Foundation and American Enterprise Institute. Our research and education advance the public debate and develop innovative public policy solutions. Our studies, policy briefs, events and conferences focus on issues, such as education reform, reducing the size of government, supporting freemarket health care reform, lowering taxes, providing commonsense environmental solutions, and lessening the regulatory burden on citizens and businesses.
Over the past few years, dozens of our ideas have been passed by the legislature and signed into law. Citizens depend on our analysis to make decisions on our state's pressing public policy matters. Our work is featured in the media an average of over seven times a day and has been covered by national media including Forbes, USA Today, CBS News, Fox News, and The Wall Street Journal.
Thank you for your consideration of our request. We hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience so we can begin planning your visit to our state's second largest city. We can be reached at (509) 570-2384.
Sincerely,
Daniel Mead Smith President dmeadsmith@washingtonpolicy.org
