Dear Secretary Bernhardt:
The National Mining Association's (NMA) spring board of directors meeting scheduled for March 25 and 26 in Washington was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our members were looking forward to your remarks kicking off the General Session on March 25.
The meeting has been rescheduled as a virtual board meeting on Tuesday, June 30 and NMA cordially invites you to address the board of directors comprised of the chief executives from the major producers of U.S. metals and minerals, coal as well as manufacturers of mining equipment and technology.
Our membership is extremely appreciative of the initiatives you have led to unravel the policies of the last administration and to decrease regulatory burdens on the mining industry. NMA members are very interested in learning more about the Department of the Interior's priorities for the remainder of 2020 in particular actions related to the May 19 executive order to reduce regulatory barriers to economic recovery from COVID-19 and Executive Order 3817, "A Federal Strategy to Ensure Secure and Reliable Supplies of Critical Minerals".
We thank you in advance for your consideration of our request and hope your schedule will permit you to give remarks on Tuesday, June 30 at 1 p.m. to begin the board of directors meeting.
