Seems like another life that we were talking about Sec. Bernhardt joining our Board Meeting in March. How are you holding up? Hope you and the family are doing as well as you can during this crazy time and finding some joy in the increased time together.
Wanted to share the attached invite to make sure it was on your radar. Mike Sommers (our President and CEO) is cochairing the 19th Annual Spirit of Mount Vernon Sunset Reception and Dinner on Oct. 8 and they have extended an invite to the Secretary to join as a guest and speaker.
Mike is going to follow-up with the Secretary personally next week while they are together, but I thought it would be helpful for us to share the details with you as well. Do you think this is something he would be interested in participating in?

On behalf of the Regent and the Vice Regents of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, I invite you to be our special guest and speaker at the 19th Annual Spirit of Mount Vernon Sunset Reception and Dinner on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Mount Vernon appreciates your important work and leadership at the Department of Interior. As you may know, in his early years, George Washington was a public land surveyor and always looked at innovative ways to utilize our natural resources. Further, the U.S. National Park Service's Piscataway National Park in Maryland protects the view from George Washington's home in Virginia across the Potomac River. To this day, more than one million annual visitors are able to appreciate and experience this iconic, historic view with the important oversight of the Department of Interior.
The Spirit of Mount Vernon brings together the Washington, D.C., government affairs community, including senior corporate executives, trade association CEOs, government relations leadership, and Capitol Hill, to celebrate George Washington's legacy while supporting Mount Vernon's mission of education and historic preservation. The event takes place on the east lawn of Mount Vernon overlooking the Potomac River and the Mount Vernon Mansion. This widely attended event complies with congressional and administration ethics rules.
Mindful of the new normal, we plan to hold this annual event utilizing the best social distancing practices with a business casual reception and picnic-style dinner. We are fortunate to have the use of the open, outdoor spaces that make up the beautiful historic grounds of Mount Vernon. The event will include spectacular fireworks over the Potomac and patriotic pageantry. We will continue to monitor Virginia's COVID-19 guidelines and make any adjustments needed for a safe and enjoyable evening for all.
This year's event will be co-chaired by Mike Sommers, President & CEO of the American Petroleum Institute; Michelle Korsmo, President & CEO of the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America; Brett Loper, Executive Vice President for American Express; and Daniel Eubanks, Senior Manager for Intuit. Ford Motor Company will be the event's presenting sponsor.
