Document 26 From: Bernstein, Ryan M. Sent: Wed, 30 Apr 2025 13:17:02 +0000 To: Korzh, Yuliya (CONTR); Connelly, David Martin; Fitzsimmons, Alexander Subject: [EXTERNAL] RE: Welcome Alex Fitzsimmons! GS1: Thank You for Agreeing to Speak at EBA's 2025 Annual Meeting and Conference! Alex, We are delighted to have you join us on the energy panel tomorrow. The panel will feature Representative Julie Fedorchak, myself, and you, with David Connelly serving as the moderator. We've prepared some proposed questions for your consideration. We are happy to change, modify, delete or add. We want to make sure you convey what you want to the audience. Question for all panelists: - From your unique perspective how would you characterize President Trump's overall energy strategy in one sentence. -What do you see as President Trump's priorities? e.g., energy independence, deregulation, spurring economic growth, hardening the country's infrastructure? Questions specifically for you. - DOE has been charged with a significant amount of activity through President Trump's executive orders and in fact, on February 5, 2025, Secretary Wright signed his first Secretarial Order titled "Unleashing the Golden Era of American Energy Dominance." This directive outlines core priorities, including: 1. Expanding baseload 2. Streamlining. 3. Refilling the Strategic Petroleum Reserve 4. Modernizing the U.S. nuclear stockpile and promoting the deployment of advanced nuclear technologies. 5. Reviewing and adjusting appliance efficiency standards to prioritize affordability and consumer choice. 6. Prioritizing research and development in areas such as fossil fuels, advanced nuclear, geothermal, hydropower, and emerging technologies like Al and quantum computing. Can you talk a little about how DOE may implement these core priorities? As lawyers, we are also interested in the Executive Order on Zero-Based Regulation to Unleash American energy. Can you briefly explain the thrust of that Executive Order and how the DOE may seek to implement it? - Secretary Wright and others have talked a lot about the promise of Small Modular Reactors, how quickly does DOE see SMRs coming online and are there initiatives that you believe can accelerate that promising technology? To what extent do the President's tariffs influence the Department of Energy's implementation of the administration's energy agenda? Is there a discernible correlation between the tariff policies and the DOE's approach to energy production and distribution across the country? Ryan M. GS1: Thank You for Agreeing to Speak at EBA's 2025 Annual Meeting and Conference! Alex, We are looking forward to having you on the Energy Bar panel on May 1. As you are aware, Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak will also be on the panel. It should be a great discussion with Julie's Congressional perspective and you representing the DOE/Administration. David Connelly, who is cc'd on this email, will be responsible for posing questions to the panelists. I will also serve as a panelist, contributing insights from energy clients, industry trends, and facilitating dialogue between you and Julie.. Our objective is to provide you with a platform to highlight the DOE's goals in the energy sector under President Trump and Secretary Wright. To ensure a comprehensive discussion, could you please share any specific topics you would like us to address? David will tailor his questions to align with the areas you wish to emphasize. Once we have identified the key topics, we will prepare the questions in advance and ensure you are well-acquainted with them prior to the panel. Thank you for your time and cooperation.
