National Alliance of Forest Owners
February 6, 2019
The Honorable Scott Pruitt Administrator Environmental Protection Agency 1200 Pennsylvania Ave., NW Washington, DC 20460
Dear Administrator Pruitt:
On behalf of the board of directors of the National Alliance of Forest Owners (NAFO), I write to request a meeting with members of the NAFO Board in the afternoon of Tuesday, April 17th.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss next steps on establishing an enduring policy reflecting the carbon neutrality of forest biomass as outlined in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2018. The meeting would be a follow-up to the event held at the Gully Branch Tree Farm in Georgia last July and attended by those who participated in that meeting. We anticipate the discussion lasting about 30 minutes, depending upon your schedule.
NAFO member companies own and sustainably manage more than 45 million acres of private working forests across 34 states. NAFO's membership also includes state and national associations representing tens of millions of additional acres. We are committed to advancing federal policies that support the long-term economic, social and environmental benefits of sustainably managed, privatelyowned forests.
We appreciate your leadership as reflected in your February 13 letter to New Hampshire Governor Sununu to provide certainty for the treatment of biomass. We look forward to discussing with you how we can work together to achieve this objective.
Your scheduling staff may coordinate with Mary Grace Schley at (202) 747-0751 or mschley@nafoalliance.org. Please also feel free to contact me directly at (202) 747-0739 or dtenny@nafoalliance.org.
Warm Regards,
