This report constitutes a separate portion of the Chicken Toxicity, Egg Hatohabllity, and Chick Viability study that was conducted on Arcelor 5460.
The reason for the separate report is that, oven though these data wore revealed verbally on Hovoabcr 16, 1967 by the Consultant to Dr. Bluaenthal and others of the PDA, it is not to be included in the proposed FVA petition for the use of Aroclor 5460 as a hot iv.elt adhesive.
Since it was agreed by all present at the PDA mooting that the dote levels employed in this chicken study were apparently too high tns exact meaning of the decreased ha testability and viability was unknov.M.
Therefore, to prevent clouding the petition in the eyes of n reviewer v;ho could be unfamiliar with this study and the purpose for which, it was conducted*. as well c.s the decision reached by all at the PDA meeting (13/16/67)* At waB decided tocait this portion of the study.
Tills report Ac to fee kept on file and to be readily available should EDA demand a review;.
The results cf this study show that hatchnbility was depressed at all throe dose levels (500, 1000, and 2000 ppm). It was ec.mowhot depressed at the low close but severely depressed at the higher cocos.
The viability data show a greater number of deaths at both the 500 and 10C0 ppm levels than in the Controls. lio deaths occurred at the EOCO ppn level but there were only 5 chicks.
There were no untoward behavioral signs in the test chicks.
At sacrifice there wore no pathologic findings in either the Control or test chicks.
