Hi Coral - Since it seems like you already have the story written, if you want to insert something after the fact from EPA, you can use the following attributed to me...I also have some additional scientific information on Chlorpyrifos, per your earlier email. Thanks - Liz
ON THE RECORD: "We consult and coordinate with career staff; we welcome their expertise and guidance.
"EPA's efforts to review regulations take into account public comment, counsel and input from a wide range of stakeholders - from environmental groups to farmers to large companies to environmental ministers from other countries.
"The decisions that we are making are based on the best available science, taking into account potential risks to human health and the environment. We are going to evaluate all the evidence and rely on the highest quality studies."
Additional Scientific Information:
Chlorpyrifos: In November 2016, EPA released documents to the federal docket regarding food-use tolerance revocations of chlorpyrifos. That proposed action followed a long review of chlorpyrifos that included three separate Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) Scientific Advisory Panels (SAPs), the first two held in 2008 and 2012, and the most recent in April 2016 (see transcript). As is seen in these peer review reports, peer reviewers recognized the complexity of the available data, including human, animal and mechanistic information. In 2017, EPA denied a petition requesting that EPA revoke all tolerances. USDA scientists supported this determination.
Despite several years of study, EPA has concluded that the science addressing neurodevelopmental effects remains unresolved. Further evaluation of the science

during the remaining time for completion of registration review is warranted to achieve greater certainty as to whether the potential exists for adverse neurodevelopmental effects to occur from current human exposures to chlorpyrifos.

Hi, guys,
Still hoping to speak to Administrator Pruitt this afternoon -- is that on? We def want his voice in this story but at this point we are also wanting to move forward with this story ASAP.
Meanwhile I'm now writing a separate story - this is about emails that Ryan sent to BOSC chair Dr. Swackhamer about her testimony before House Science last month.
Dr. Swackhamer & House Science Dems say that Ryan appeared to have attempted to pressure Dr. Swackhamer to alter her testimony to better line up w. EPA's talking points on the non renewal of BOSC positions.
Cld Ryan chat about this?

Cheers,
