The Honorable David Bernhardt Acting Secretary U.S. Department of the Interior 1849 C Street NW Washington, D.C. 20240
Dear Acting Secretary Bernhardt:
On behalf of the American Farm Bureau Federation, the nation's largest general farm organization, I am writing to invite you to participate in a special meeting we will host later this year.
Farm Bureau presidents from all 50 states and Puerto Rico will convene July 9-10 in Washington, D.C., for a Council of the Presidents. I invite you to address the group either morning. We can be flexible as to timing to accommodate your schedule.
AFBF publicly applauded your recent nomination as Secretary of the Interior and has urged the Senate to support your swift confirmation. As Deputy Secretary and Acting Secretary of the Interior, you have undertaken critical work in many areas, in particular the commitment to multiple use management of America's public lands, regulatory efforts to reform the outdated and ineffective Endangered Species Act, streamlining the National Environmental Policy Act, and the promotion of outcome-based grazing across our nation's rangelands. Additionally, the implementation of President Trump's Executive Order on Promoting Active Management of America's Forests, Rangelands, and other Federal Lands to Improve Conditions and Reduce Wildfire Risk is of great interest to Farm Bureau members nationwide. I know our presidents would be interested to hear your thoughts on these or any other topics you wish to discuss.
I hope your schedule will permit you to join us at this event. We will follow up with your staff in hopes of securing your acceptance of this invitation. Please feel free to contact Paul Schlegel (pauls@fb.org or 202-406-3687) if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Zippy Duvall President
