Dear Mr. Jackson
I apologize that we missed each other last week. At the risk of being presumptuous, and perhaps in order to connect directly, please allow me to state

ED 001523 00004938-00002
my interest in possible senior EPA positions. If this was not your intent, well, then please feel free to disregard the rest of this email!
I spoke with a Bryan Zumwalt a few weeks ago about possible interest in the AA for either ORD or OCSPP. At the time I indicated to Bryan that my interest lay more with ORD, since I am familiar with this group (having worked there for 15 years) and since the AA of ORD is also the scientific advisor to Administrator Pruitt. Upon reflection, however, and especially because the proposed budget cuts in ORD eliminate IRIS, it seems now that a better fit with my background is OCSPP. Eliminating IRIS will cause EPA enormous heartburn, but this can be mollified by folding the appropriate work of IRIS into the LCSA activity, and someone certified in toxicology and internationally recognized in risk assessment, might make a good leader for this combined effort.
Please feel free to call or email at your convenience. I will be in my University of Cincinnati, College of Medicine office Monday through Wednesday of this week (513 558-7949, day or 513 542-8940, evening) and then going home for the Easter holiday (419-892-2502). My cell, 513 543 2892, is another possibility, but this is hit or miss as demonstrated last Tuesday evening when you called during my soccer game.
Cheers!
Michael

Hi Ryan,
I hope all is going well with the new wave of folks starting this week. I just wanted to let you know that I'm still very interested in helping out the team at EPA any way I can. Hopefully we'll have an opportunity to talk again soon. Best, Ben
