1.1 ONE EXCHANGER IN ACCORDANCE WITH OWNER'S DRAWINGS B5-901-4380. 85-901A-4380, B5-901B-4380 AND THIS SPECIFICATION.

1.2 VENDOR IS TO REVIEW OWNER'S EXCHANGER ARRANGEMENT, PREPARE DETAILED DESIGN CALCULATIONS AND DETAILED SHOP FABRICATION DRAWINGS. FABRICATE. ASSEMBLE. TEST AND DELIVER ALL EQUIPMENT AND ACCESSORIES TO MAKE A COMPLETE JOB AS SHOWN ON OWNER'S DRAWING AND THIS SPECIFICATION.
1.3 WEIGHTS SHOWN ON OWNER'S DRAWING ARE APPROXIMATE WEIGHTS. VENDOR SHALL CALCULATE WEIGHTS BASED ON ACTUAL MATERIAL AND FABRICATED THICKNESSES.

2. OESIGN
2.1 OESIGN. FABRICATION, MATERIAL. TESTING AND INSPECTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LATEST EDITION OF THE ASME CODE SECTION VIII. DIVISION I. THE REQUIREMENTS OF TUBULAR EXCHANGER MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION (TEMA), AND THIS SPECIFICATION. THE GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR DESIGN SHALL BE AS SHOWN ON THE OWNER'S DRAWING. THE OWNER'S DRAWING IS NOT INTENDED TO COVER COMPLETE DETAILS. BUT INSTEAD IS TO PROVIDE A GUIDE FOR VENDOR'S SHOP DRAWINGS.
2.2 THE VENDOR SHALL NOT DEVIATE FROM THE DESIGN CONDITIONS OF DETAILS AS SHOWN ON OWNER'S DRAWINGS WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN APPROVAL.
2.3 DESIGN PRESSURE SFECIFIED ON OWNER'S DRAWING IS THE MINIMUM WORKING PRESSURE ACCEPTABLE. EXCHANGER SHALL BE STAMPED WITH THE DESIGN PRESSURE AS THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE WORKING PRESSURE.
2.4 THICKNESS OF SHELL. HEADS AND OTHER PRESSURE PARTS. WHERE SPECIFIED ON OWNER'S DRAWINGS, ARE MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE THICKNESSES WITH ONLY MILL UNDER GAUGE TOLERANCE PERMITTED AT ANY POINT.

3.1 THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION SHALL BE CLEARLY SHOWN ON THE VENDOR'S SHOP DRAWINGS.

5.8 FLANGED NOZZLES AND MANHOLES THROUGH 24 INCH SIZE SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH ANSI STANDARD 016.5.
5.9 NOZZLES AND FLANGED JOINTS SHALL BE FABRICATED WITH FLANGES HAVING A MACHINED FACE SUITABLE FOR TYPE OF GASKET USED.
5.10 REINFORCING PADS AND ROLLED-PLATE NOZZLE NECKS SHALL BE THE SAME GRADE OF MATERIAL AS THE PRESSURE PART TO WHICH THEY ARE ATTACHED.
5.11 ALL NOZZLES ANO MANHOLES SHALL BE FLUSH WITH INSIDE OF EXCHANGER. EXCEPT AS SHOWN.
5.12 VENOOR SHALL FURNISH 80LTING AND GASKETS FOR ALL COVERED OPENINGS.
5.13 THE INSIDE EDGE OF NOZZLES SHALL BE ROUNDED TO A MINIMUM OF 1/8 INCH RADIUS.
5.14 FLANGE BOLT HOLES SHALL STRADDLE MAJOR CENTERLINES OF EXCHANGER.
5.14.1 MAJOR CENTERLINES FOR EXCHANGER ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS.
5.14.1.1 FOR VERTICAL EXCHANGER THE MAJOR CENTERLINE FOR TOP ANO BOTTOM HE AOS WILL BE THE NORTH-SOUTH CENTERLINE. THE MAJOR CENTERLINE OF THE SHELL WILL BE THE AXIAL CENTERLINE OF THE SHELL CYLINDER.
5.15 BOLT HOLES IN STRUCTURAL MEMBERS SHALL BE DRILLED OR PUNCHED, burning of holes will not 3E permitted.

6.10 AFTER COMPLETION OF A SATISFACTORY HELIUM TEST. THE VESSEL IS TO BE PURGED OF HELIUM WITH AIR TO OUTSIDE ATMOSPHERE.

6.12.1 THE WELDS OF EACH NOZZLE PAD OR ANY OTHER SEAL--WELDED PAO OR DOUBLE PLATE SHALL BE TESTED WITH AIR AND SOAP SOLUTION BEFORE HYDROSTATICALLY TESTING EXCHANGER. TEST PRESSURE USED ON PADS SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 10 PSI WITH A MAXIMUM OF 15 PSI.
6.12.2 THE SHELL SIDE AND THE TUBE SIDE ARE TO BE TESTED SEPARATELY IN SUCH A MANNER THAT LEAKS AT THE TUBE JOINTS CAN BE DETECTED FROM AT LEAST ONE SIDE. WHEN CONSTRUCTION PERMITS AND THE TUBE SIDE DESIGN PRESSURE IS THE HIGHER PRESSURE. THE TUBE BUNDLE SHALL BE TESTED OUTSIDE OF THc SHELL. WELOED JOINTS ARE TO BE SUFFICIENTLY CLEANED PRIOR TO TESTING THE EXCHANGER TO PERMIT PROPER INSPECTION DURING THE TEST.
6.13 TEST GASKETS SHALL BE USED ONLY ON EXCHANGER OPENINGS. SERVICE GASKETS FURNISHED 3Y THE MANUFACTURER SHAlL BE USED FCR TEST ON BODY FLANGES. MANHOLES, ETC., AND THESE JOINTS SHALL NOT BE BROKEN AFTER TEST IS COMPLETE.

7. INSPECTION
7.1 SUPPLEMENTAL To THE INSPECTION BY THE VENDOR. A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE OWNER WILL INSPECT THE EXCHANGER AND WITNESS TEST, HAVING AT ALL TIMES THE SAME PREROGATIVES GIVEN INSPECTOR UNDER THE ASME CODE, INCLUDING THAT OF REJECTION.

7.2 INSPECTION AND APPROVAL BY THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE SHALL NOT RELIEVE THE VENDOR FROM COMPLIANCE WITH THESE SPECIFICATIONS.
7.3 THE VENDOR SHALL MAINTAIN PERMANENT RECORDS OF WELDER QUALIFICATIONS AND ALL PERTINENT DATA PERTAINING TO EACH EXCHANGER.
7.4 PRIOR TO OWNERS FINAL INSPECTION OF EACH UNIT. THE VENDOR SHALL HAVE PREPARED IN FINISHED FORM AND NOTARIZED 3 SETS OF RECCRDS. EXCEPT FINAL TEST DATA. INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING:

7.6 THESE FORMS, TOGETHER WITH FINAL TEST DATA, SHALL BE ASSEMBLED INTO 3 COMPLETE SETS FOR EACH ITEM. EACH SET ShALL BE IN 600KLET FORM, NO LARGER THAN 9-1/2 INCHES BY 12 INCHES. WITH EACH AND EVERY SHEET BEARING THE OWNER'S ORDER NUMBER AND EXCHANGER SERIAL NUMBER. IN NO CASE SHALL A RECORD BOOK PERTAIN TO MORE THAN ONE EXCHANGER NUMBER.
7.7 THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE WILL AT THE TIME OF WITNESSING THE FINAL TESTS AND CERTIFYING CORRECTNESS OF FORMS, COLLECT THE APPROPRIATE NUMBER OF BOOKLET FORMS FOR EACH ITEM TESTED.
8. CLEANING AND COATING

9.1.1 FLANGED OPENINGS COVER USING SOFT GASKET PROOF CLOSURE.
SHALL BE COVERED WITH LIGHT STEEL PLATE AND AOEQUATE BOLTING TO INSURE WEATHER
9.2 THE EXCHANGER SHALL BE CLEANED OF ALL FOREIGN OBJECTS INCLUDING HYDROSTATIC TEST WATER BEFORE SHIPMENT.
9.3 THE EXCHANGER SHALL BE IDENTIFIED BY PAINTING THE PURCHASE ORDER NUMBER AND THE ITEM NUMBER ON 2 OPPOSITE SIDES IN CLEARLY VISIBLE POSITIONS AND IN LETTERS AT LEAST 3 INCHES HIGH. IDENTIFICATION NUMBERS TO BE ONLY ON THE CARBON STEEL PORTION OF THE EXCHANGER.
9.4 IF SPECIAL HANDLING IN THE MOVING OF AN EXCHANGER IS REQUIRED. LIFT POINTS AND/OR ANY SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS DEEMED NECESSARY SHALL BE CLEARLY MARKED ON THE EXCHANGER WITH PAINT LETTERS AT LEAST 3 INCHES HIGH.
