THE BUDGET
GAS FIRED STORAGE WATER HEATER FOR WAR TIME SERVICE *
The Budget Water Heater is built in accordance with the construction provisions of Limita` tion Order No. L-J85 issued by the War Production Board, and is approved by the American Gas Association Laboratory, in accordance with their "American War Standard Approval Requirements for Gas Water Heaters."
THE BUDGET
With changes in respect to the jacket and some minor fittings, made necessary by war time
regulations, the Budget Gas Fired Water Heater is the same dependable and efficient
product as heretofore. The internal design and construction remains the same and it will
continue to supply constant, economical hot water within the limit of its rated capacities.
The new protective asbestos jacket is finished in white enamel, with black trim, and retains
its neat appearance. It may be installed in the kitchen if desired, harmonizing as it does
with other equipment in this room.

The Budget Water Heater is entirely automatic in operation, with proper controls for
regulating gas supply and water temperature, and a thermostatic pilot which prevents the
flow of gas-onless pilot is burning. These and other construction features are detailed below.
They explain why the Budget is a good, reliable product for supplying plentiful hot water,
with economy and effortless operation.
DETAILS OF CONSTRUCTION
1. DOWN DRAFT DIVERTER--Prevents either excesstve draft or dowa drafts from affecting proper combustion.
2. JACKET--Thick, bard and durable asbestos millboard lacquered white, mat finish.
3. FLUE--Single flue with ample heating sur face. Steel flue baffle of spiral design assures maximum heat transfer from hot gases. Flue baffle is "jointed"--easily removed for cleaning or inspection in space with low ceilings.
.4 BURNER--Case iron blue flame burner of spe
cial design for economical gas burning.
5. AIR DISTRIBUTOR--A special cast iron plate tinder burner that provides proper distribution
of air, improves combustion and prevents leak age of combustion products through Are door.
6. BASE ANO LEGS--Of heavy, pressed steel con struction.
7. FLOOR SHIELD--Prevents loss of heat by radi ation to the floor.
8. FLUE SEAL RING ANO PUTTY JOINT--Pre vents escape of products of combustioo into in sulation at top of heater.
9. COLD WATER INLET TUBE--Of galvanized steel.
10. TANK--Heavy galvanized steel for perma nence, 300 lb. test.
11. INSULATION--1-inch thick Rockwool blanket, retains heat for high efficiency and fuel-saving.
12. COMBINATION ADJUSTABLE GAS VALVE--Per mits adjusting gas supply to both pilot and main burner.
13. THERMOSTAT--Snap action. With indicator to set at any temperature desired. No over or under heating.
14. THERMOSTATIC PILOT--Multi-port blue Aame --positive in action. Gas cannot flow unless pilot is burning.
15. BURNER MIXER TUBE--Correctly designed in accordance with U. S. Bureau of {standards rec ommendations.
