This week EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt visited Senators on Capitol Hill, promoted the Federal Green Challenge, and talked with reporters from Reuters and Politico about protecting the environment. Here is a look a recap of the work being done each day at EPA.
NATIONAL COVERAGE ...
reports that EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt discussed the hypocrisy of President Trump's European critics. "EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt dismissed European critics of President Donald Trump's climate policies as hypocrites on Wednesday, while chastising German Chancellor Angela Merkel for phasing out her country's nuclear power plants. `I just think the hypocrisy runs rampant,' Pruitt said in an interview with POLITICO. `To look at us as a nation and say, 'You all need to do more' in light of what we've done in leading with innovation and technology -- the hypocrisy is palpable in those areas.' Pruitt mentioned Merkel by name, urging the public to press her on the issue. If reducing carbon dioxide emissions `is so important to you, Madam Chancellor, why are you getting rid of nuclear? Because last time I checked, it's pretty clean on CO2,' he said."

interview about protecting the environment and American jobs. "U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt gave Reuters a wide-ranging interview on Monday at his office in
Washington, discussing issues from climate science to automobile emissions."
TO THE STATES ...
In California,
reported on EPA granting the Morongo Band of Mission
Indians $167,000 that will help replace older vehicles, including a refuse hauler, with newer,
more environmentally friendly vehicles. "The Morongo Band of Mission Indians is one of two
western tribes to benefit from an EPA program designed to reduce emissions from diesel trucks and
buses. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Pacific Southwest Region awarded more than
$167,000 to the Morongo Band to help buy two heavy-duty vehicles through the Diesel Emission
Reduction Act."
In Oregon, the
reported that Whitman Mission National Historic Site has been
selected to receive an award from the Environmental Protection Agency for water
conservation. "Whitman Mission National Historic Site has been selected to receive an award from
the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for water conservation after the park lowered its water
usage by 36 percent in 2016. The award comes from the Federal Green Challenge, part of the
EPA's Sustainable Materials Management Program, which challenges government offices
throughout the country to reduce their environmental impact."
In Texas,
reported that EPA awarded $2.7 million to the Texas Commission

on Environmental Quality to help improve water quality. "The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently awarded the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) a performance partnership grant of $2,775,937 for administering water quality and environmental programs."

In Kentucky,
reported that EPA has awarded a $200K grant to help
facilitate the cleanup of the Parker Seal plant. "A $200,000 grant has been awarded for the
environmental clean-up of the former Parker Seal plant in Berea. The Brownfields Program grant
was secured from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by the Kentucky River Foothills
Development Council Inc. (KRFDC) in partnership with Fahe in Berea. Located at 103 Lewis Street,
the Parker Seal building is said to be contaminated with trichloroethene and debris that remained
after the plant closed in 2001. The Brownfields Program provides EPA funding for cleanup and reuse
of contaminated properties."
