A Quick Guide to the Castleman Papers

The addition of Barry Castleman’s papers makes Toxic Docs the world’s largest collection of freely accessible digital materials. You can read more about the papers here.

Accessing them is easy.

The Basics

1.     Go to www.toxicdocs.org

2.     Hit advanced search on the right of the white box.

3.     You’ll see a screen like this one below.  You can also go to it by just going here: www.toxicdocs.org/advanced-search

4.     Under “Special Collections,” choose “Castleman Papers”

5.     Type your query in the search box at the very top that says “Full Text Search.” 

6.     That’s it!

Other Tricks

  • On the same Advanced Search page, you can also screen by “Firm” (e.g. “Johns-Manville”) or date. If you’re interested in seeing other asbestos documents, besides Barry’s docs, you can also Special Collections blank and choose “Asbestos,” as shown below.
